This morning was really special to me. I woke up with Gunnar in my face. He was whining and grunting at me as I lay in bed. Usually he will do this if he has to pee (and with the nasty weather he hasn’t wanted to go out much) but he brought me right into [...]

My Two Kids

Last night I had the privilege of spending family QT with my two “kids” while Mikey had to go into work.

Avery’s starting to become very interested and curious of Gunnar. She likes to watch his whirling dervishes and crazy laps around the house when he becomes excited, or watch him play with a dog toy.
She [...]

I can’t believe it. After ten weeks, I’m back into my size 4 pants. With the exception of a couple extra pounds in my thighs and butt, you can’t even tell I ever had a baby, especially a baby who’s only ten weeks old. I have no stretch marks, and I’ve been in a bikini [...]

As I round the corner to the 39th week, I find I’m in full-blown nesting phase. I’m sure this “nesting” manifests itself in various ways from pregnant woman to pregnant woman, although they’re all special unique forms of CRAZY. I find to my relief I’m no different. I’ve recently been blessed with this burst of [...]

My Nanny Dog

Gunnar has been acting noticeably different lately, for the past maybe, week or two.

This past weekend we decided to make good use of the beautiful weather and take the boat out on the lake. We decided it was time for Gunnar to have his first swimming expedition.
Up until now, the only water this little guy’d been around was the water in his bowl, the bathtub, or the hose [...]

So I decided to teach Gunnar how to Take a Bow.  My friend Suz’s dog, Cam, does this trick fantastically and I always thought it was so cute.
After a couple weeks of intense training (HA!) we’ve realized that we still need to do more work.
Clearly the correct way is to bow with only the front [...]

I haven’t had one of these in a long time. Growing up in upstate New York, I got used to the firs snowflakes falling sometime in November, and finally letting up around March or April, if we were lucky.
When they called for snow last night, I thought, “yeah right, maybe a dusting, and I’ll go [...]

Update

We gave Gunnar a bath last night. There was moderate constant itching but nothing like the self mutilation that went on last week. Again, the benedryl and the itchy stick did nothing to calm him down, but at least the oatmeal bath worked a little. Phew. Hopefully tonight we’ll get something stronger from the vet, [...]

The Itchy Olympics

So we think Gunnar has allergies, and we’re at a complete loss as to what he’s allergic to.

When we first brought him home, he was fine. A few weeks later we noticed he began to itch his tummy, armpits and inner thighs and chew at his feet.  When we took him in for his [...]
