So, are we having a baby…or an alien?

 Here is the most recent ultrasound picture of our little bundle of joy. Is it just me, or does this baby look suspiciously like a creature from outer space? This is a wicked close encounter of the third kind, if I’ve ever had one. Hopefully at the next ultrasound he or she will be much more human looking!

 

Our next appointment and ultrasound is scheduled for 1/28/09.

It’s a HUGE day, too, because we will finally find out whether were having a boy or a girl!!!

AHHHHHH!!! This is all too much! It still feels so surreal, like things aren’t actually happening, but only that I’m pretending it’s all happening.  Me? a mom? My mom’s a mom! I’m just a kid in a 28 year old’s body! How is it possible that God decided to bless us with such a huge responsibility of raising our own child

Mom went with me to my most recent prenatal visit on 12/30. She got to hear the heartbeat and almost cried. It was so exciting. We asked for a freebie ultrasound and almost got one too, if it weren’t for the short staffing during the holidays. Dammit. I can’t believe this baby is already a boy or a girl even as I’m typing this, and I still won’t know for weeks. It’s torture!

What are you, little Blueberry?

Are you a little girl who we’ll call Avery and dress in lacy frilly stuff? Will we buy you dolls and paint your room pink? Will you dream of being a princess and let me read fairy tales to you?

Or are you daddy’s little boy? Will you want to play baseball and make mud pies? Will you wrestle with the dog and put lizards and frogs in your pocket for me to find in the laundry?

I’m so anxious to know. It’s like, once we know for sure which you’ll be, this tiny little flutter in my stomach will become an actual PERSON, with a name and an identity.

With all the unknowns we’re going though, its going to be a relief to at least know what you are, and then we can be excited to find out who you are later.

It’s going to make this entire unfamiliar process seem much less alien to us.
